The Asian Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) is shinning the spot light on poker in China. The Grand Waldo Hotel and Casino on the Chinese island of Macau will be this great event’s next stop. Sponsored by PokerStars the APPT is putting on the first ever No-Limit Hold'em poker tournament ever to ever take place in China. It will be a main event with a $2,500 buy-in.

Jeffrey Haas, the APPT President, was quoted to have said, “The APPT is honored to be bringing the sport of tournament poker to Macau. Macau is already the world's gaming capital, and this historic event diversifies its global attraction by including the APPT's unique brand of poker tourism. It's a significant step forward not only for the APPT but for the growth of poker in Asia."

Gary Woollard, Galaxy Grand Waldo Casino general manager also stated that, "Poker has taken a tremendous growth in Asia and we are very excited to be a part of this growth, particularly as the first casino to host live poker in Macau.”

Sarne Lightman, director of marketing for PokerStars Asia Pacific, stated that the PokerStars company was dedicated to the “growth of poker as an international sport.” He also stated, "Through our association with poker events such as the European Poker Tour and the APPT, we are able to offer players a unique chance to play and travel across much of the world. Adding Macau to the APPT schedule is a very exciting step forward. There is global interest in the 'Las Vegas of Asia' and we are very proud we can offer players this amazing experience.”

The tournament series is schedule to take place between November 22 and the 27. Besides the $2,500 main event, there will also be a $15,000 High Roller event as well.

Naturally, you can expect some of the poker celebrities and pros to make an appearance at this event. Some of those players will be from Team PokerStars and other top online poker pros.

The Grand Waldo Hotel and Casino in Macau is a new five-star hotel resort will. This amazing place will offer APPT competitors and guests a chance to not just gamble but also explore one of China’s most interesting of places. Macau is a historically significant for China with temples and Portuguese monuments and beautiful gardens.

This exciting tournament in Macau will be the third visit for the APPT tour. The APPT inaugural season launch began in Manila, Philippines and has also made a stop in Seoul, Korea.
