In West Virginia County, live poker play was narrowly approved during this past weekend’s referendum. However, there is most likely to be a recount of the votes.

Under this new referendum, live poker play will be allowed to take place at the Tri-State Racetrack & Gaming Center greyhound track in Nitro, just west of Charleston, the state capital.

Over 36 pre-vote calculations made by many different sources.

Currently, there are a few hundred ballots that are being disputed by election officials. Furthermore, there were 155 ballots that were supposed to be counted at three neighborhood precincts but instead got transported to county courthouse before being included in the tabulations. To add to the strangeness of this election, County Clerk Vera McCormick on Monday founded 64 more uncounted absentee ballots that mysteriously appeared. These votes were against having live poker play in West Virginia County.

The difficulty now is to decide who will flip the bill for the recount. The law states that the side wishing for the recount must post a $300 bond and also take responsibility for the total cost of the recount which is estimated to be at $15,000. Republican Delegate Patrick Lane, who is against gambling, is currently demanding that the Racetrack & Gaming Center pay for some of the recount bill.
