WSOP 2007 Update Event #24

Saturday, June 16, 2007 had a final table full of stars and top pros. The final table was for WSOP 2007 Event #24, Seven card Stud High/Lo with a $3,000 dollar buy-in. After a grueling battle through a field of 236 competitors, the 9 players and seating their arrangements at the final table was as follows:

  1. Seat 1: Russell 'Dutch' Boyd 170,000
  2. Seat 2: George Hardie 182,000
  3. Seat 3: Eli Elezra 303,000
  4. Seat 4: David Sklansky 171,000
  5. Seat 5: Scotty Nguyen 255,000
  6. Seat 6: John Harkness 141,000
  7. Seat 7: Thor Hansen 167,000
  8. Seat 8: Marshall Ragir 28,000

The game play for this final table began at 3pm PDT. Hardie had busted Ragir early in the day. Soon after that unfortunately for Hardie, he left the table also after being busted out be Elezra’s kings. Hardie left with $20,844 that day.

The chip lead constantly switched between Nguyen and Sklansky. However, in the end, it was heads up between Elezra and Nguyen. The two battled each other for the first place prize for some time. Eventually Elezra, at the 177th hand, defeated Nguyen with an Ace high straight and became this year’s Seven Card Stud WSOP 2007 champ. Elezra got to pocket $198,984 for finishing first, while Nguyen won $110,731 for second.
