WSOP 2007 Update Event #17
This year WSOP 2007 Event #17 which was the “Ladies World Championship Event” had a record breaking 1,286 competitors. The buy-in for this event was $1,000. On June 13th at 3pm in the Amazon Room the final table was as follows:
- Frauke Ritter von Sporschill — 523,000
- Mindy Trinidad — 444,000
- Vanessa Selbst — 354,000
- Katja Thater — 340,000
- Sally Boyer — 326,000
- Anne Heft — 277,000
- Kathy Gliva — 145,000
- Randi Calabro — 110,000
- Julie Dang — 48,000
Game play was broadcast on the internet via worldseriesofpoker.com. and took placed under the Bluff Tent.
After hours of play, the blinds had grown significantly to the point where players’ stacks were constantly at risked. Sporchill eventually took a stand with A-6 and pushed all in. Unfortunately she came face to face with Heft’s pair of jacks. With no help from the community cards, Sporschill was busted out at sixt place earning her $37,448.
Next Heft with AQ, called an all in against Thater’s all in push with A-10. The board showed a possible split pot. Unfortunately for Thater, this did not happen and was knocked out by Heft. Thater took 5th place and earned $49,151. Gliva was knocked out by Boyer’s pocket fours that held strong through classic race against her AK suited. Gliva took 4th place and earned $70,216.
Soon the Spot light was again on Boyer who knocked out Calabro with quad sixes on the flop. Calabro who claimed that she had lost her job due to playing at this final table, took third place went home with $106,177. That should help with her future job search.
At heads up Heft closely held a 2:1 chip lead over Boyer and their chip count was as follows.
- Anne Heft — 1.6M
- Sally Anne Boyer — 985K
Eventually after a grueling duel between the two players, Boyer moved in with K-2 only to face Heft’s K-10. The flop was 4-5-3 which brought hope to Boyer’s situation. By the time the 2 hit on the river, there was no help to Heft and Boyer took first place, the Ladies’ World Champion Ship title, Bracelet and $262,077.

Ad Whitelist Update for UK Gambling
Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport has confirmed that it will not allow Antigua and Barbuda or the Kahnawake Territory onto the ad whitelist for gambling. If they were to be added this would allow these groups to advertise gambling in the UK. More »
